She worked from 1956 to 1979 at Didsbury College of Education, becoming Head of Art and Design, and was a visiting professor at the State University College, Buffalo, New York, during 1972–73. Elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1955, Halliday exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, and her work is held in several public collections.
