Elected an Associate Member of the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1977, he became a full Academician in 1983. Gardner exhibited widely with the RCA and other institutions, and his work was celebrated in the retrospective exhibition “Forty Years a Member” at the RCA Upper Gallery in Conwy.
