The composition presents a luminous raspberry form rendered in rich crimson and magenta tones emerging from a dark atmospheric background. Spread across two square canvases designed to hang together as a single work, the piece creates a strong visual impact and an elegant modern statement. The glowing organic structure and softly diffused colour are characteristic of Karasick’s exploration of natural forms.

About the Artist

Mark Karasick (b.1959) is a Canadian-born contemporary artist who studied at art college in Toronto. Since the early 1980s he has explored encaustic techniques using wax and pigment, a method with origins in Greco-Roman painting traditions. Karasick has exhibited internationally across Europe and North America, with exhibitions including the Whitechapel Art Gallery (London), John Hansard Gallery (Southampton), Art Gallery of Hamilton (Canada), and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology (London). His work has been shown alongside artists such as Anish Kapoor, Jeff Koons, Jenny Saville, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Marina Abramović and Yinka Shonibare. His practice often focuses on botanical and organic imagery, presenting centralised natural forms as contemplative visual subjects.

Estimated Date

Late 20th / early 21st century

Provenance & Notes

From a private collection.
