An excellent original oil on canvas by noted Ukrainian painter Andriy Viktorovich Yalanskyi (born 1959), depicting ducks “качки” within a sunlit rural yard scene. About the Artist

Andriy Viktorovich Yalanskyi (born Kyiv, October 1959) is an important Ukrainian painter, academic, and educator awarded the prestigious title People's Artist of Ukraine in 2012. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1989, he has held senior positions at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv including Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. The son of graphic artist Viktor Yalanskyi, he studied under V.I. Zaretsky before attending the Kyiv State Art Institute under Professor V. Shatalin and later undertook postgraduate training at the Academy of Arts of the USSR under Professor T.N. Golembievsky. Yalanskyi is recognised for continuing the traditions of classical realist and plein-air painting, producing atmospheric landscapes and rural scenes distinguished by expressive painterly brushwork and sophisticated light effects. His works are held in major museum collections including the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the National Museum of T.G. Shevchenko in Kaniv, and the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. His paintings have been exhibited internationally through Hanover Fine Arts, Roy Miles Gallery, London, Lyon & Turnbull, and Royal Academy associated exhibitions in Britain, while works have also appeared at Phillips and Christie's.

From a private collection. Retains the original Hanover Fine Arts, Dundas Street, Edinburgh label verso together with handwritten annotations and size notation to the reverse. The oil on canvas is clean and well-presented with no obvious repairs or restoration visible. Canvas appears sound and stable. Retaining its original Hanover Fine Arts gallery frame with light surface wear and minor marks consistent with age and display.
