About the Artist
Anne Swankie (b. 1951, London) is a painter celebrated for vibrant, impressionistic views of urban and rural life. Trained at Richmond School of Art, she began painting full-time in the 1990s, gaining attention with early shows through Richmond Art Society and Twickenham Art Circle. Her expressive works capture the rhythms of daily life — from rain-soaked London streets to intimate interiors and garden scenes — using pastels, watercolour, acrylics and mixed media. Signature motifs include umbrellas and reflective surfaces.
Swankie is represented by John Iddon Fine Art and has exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair (Battersea), with the Pastel Society, the Society of Women Artists, and in curated group exhibitions including the 2018 John Iddon Summer Show at Herrick Gallery, Mayfair. She was a featured artist in the Secret Art Auction 2025 for Habitats & Heritage. Her work is held in private, commercial and historic collections across the UK and internationally. She lives and works in Richmond, London.
