Subject and Context

Paysage translates simply as “Landscape”. This compact watercolour belongs to the same group as Le Cap, Amandier and Au bord de la forêt, and was likely painted during the same French journey in the Cassis area. Its layered hills and warm southern palette place it firmly within Yarrow-Jones’s Mediterranean travel work.
