Description

This evocative late Victorian pastoral scene by Francis Sylvester Walker captures a tranquil moment in the Irish countryside. Blossom-laden trees, a gently grazing flock of sheep and a solitary seated figure beside a winding stream combine to create a composition full of warmth and atmosphere.

Walker’s sensitive handling of light and colour is evident throughout, with soft natural tones and delicate brushwork enhancing the peaceful rural setting. The work reflects the artist’s ability to elevate everyday pastoral subjects into timeless, poetic landscapes.

Presented in an ornate gilt frame, likely original and bearing an Alfred Stiles & Son label verso, the painting is ready to hang and makes a superb addition for collectors of Irish art and 19th-century landscape painting.
