Description

Ile de la Cite is an original watercolour and gouache by the Scottish artist Jack Firth RSW. The composition depicts a view across the River Seine towards the historic heart of Paris, with the towers and spire of Notre-Dame Cathedral rising above the riverside buildings.

In the foreground, a group of birds perched along the river railings introduces a quiet sense of life and movement, contrasting with the architectural grandeur beyond.

Presented in an ornate gilt frame with a wide mount, the work displays beautifully and is ready for hanging.

About the Artist

In 1961 he was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, later serving twice as Vice-President. His work was exhibited through leading Scottish galleries including The Scottish Gallery and Open Eye Gallery.
