About the Artist
John Goodlad is a self-taught Manchester artist who returned to painting later in life after a career in the building trade. Having left school with only a pass in Art, he initially worked as a plumber before pursuing formal fine art study in his 50s. Deeply influenced by L. S. Lowry, Goodlad paints industrial and social scenes rooted in his personal understanding of working-class life. His expressive brushwork, stylised figures, and authentic subject matter have earned his work places in private collections across the UK.
