About the Artist
Keith James Gardner RCA (1933–2025) was a respected British painter celebrated for his luminous oil paintings of the Wirral, North Wales, and coastal Britain. Born in Liverpool, he studied at Liverpool Art College and worked at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead. He was elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1977, becoming a full member in 1983, and exhibited widely throughout his career. A major retrospective of his work was held in 2019. Gardner’s paintings are admired for their strong sense of place and atmospheric handling of light and weather.
