About the Artist
Patrick Gibbs (b. London, 1959) studied at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Magdalen College, Oxford, focusing on figurative and landscape painting. After university he travelled widely across Europe, financing his journeys by painting landscapes and drawing street portraits, including a formative period in Tarquinia, Italy. Returning to London, he briefly taught before committing to full-time painting. Known for vivid, emotionally resonant works from extensive international travel, his subjects span India, Mozambique, Gambia, Vietnam, Cuba, and France, alongside occasional British scenes. He primarily paints acrylic on board, building richly coloured compositions with bold brushwork and strong tonal design. His work is held in private collections internationally and has been shown in leading galleries across the UK and USA.
