About the Artist
Steve Camps (b. 1957, Cornwall) worked for many years as a builder and antiques dealer before turning to painting in 2023. Entirely self-taught, he has quickly become known for his joyful outsider-art aesthetic, especially his charismatic whale subjects that earned him the affectionate nickname “The Prince of Whales.” His work is celebrated for its folk-art charm and authentic Cornish coastal spirit.
